A Great Place to Call Home!
Visit and you will fall in love with Dorval! Originally named Gentilly, Dorval was incorporated in 1892 and became a city in 1956.
In the mid-1800s, the construction of the Grand Trunk Railway allowed city dwellers easy access to the coveted area for summer holidays, while being in reasonable proximity to their homes and work in the city of Montreal. The widening of Highway 20 after WWII allowed families to move permanently to the area, resulted in a new housing boom.
Located in the center of the West Island’s industrial and commercial hub, this city is most known for the Montreal Dorval Airport, also known as Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport, and the industrial park. In fact, one of the first mall-style commercial centers, Dorval Gardens, was built at the intersection of Highway 20 and Dorval Avenue and is still the main commercial hub of the area.
This active and family oriented community has so much more to offer! Enjoy the many facilities including a cultural center, two sports arenas, two community centers, a modern library, marinas, Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club and 15 parks located within its limits! In fact, this pretty city boasts one of the highest proportions of green space per capita in Canada!
Housing consists primarily of single family homes, however, there are also condominiums and townhouses as well, not to mention the gorgeous waterfront estates (take a look at that sunset!). In recent years, there have been several waterfront condominium buildings built, some offering outstanding views of beautiful Lake St Louis!
The pride of the residents is evident here – when people move to Dorval Qc, they stay there – and they will tell you it is a great place to call home! Care to join them? Add this city to your Wish List! For buying or selling, contact me.
