Located a short 20 minutes from Downtown Montreal, the West Island covers the entire western third of the Island of Montreal and is bordered to the North by Rivière-des-prairies, to the West by the Lake of Two Mountains and to the South by the St-Lawrence River. The nearby western off-island are a short drive over one of the several bridges connecting the area to the Island of Montreal. These communities are highly desirable for their generally more economical housing, ease of access to the city, and country feel. The great variety of housing allows for almost everyone to find what they are looking for. Here you will find all types of housing including apartment-style condos, turn-of the century farmhouses, single-family homes, townhouses, farms and waterfront estates!
Whether you want to take a bike ride along the canal, a picnic in one of the many parks and beaches in the area, spend the day shopping, dine out, go boating, swimming, or horseback riding, you are sure to find what you are looking for! For those wishing to spend some time in the big city, the downtown core of Montreal is only a short 20-30 minute commute by car, or a leisurely ride on the convenient commuter train! The area is very popular with families and has plenty of primary and secondary schools.
