In the mid-1800s, the construction of the Grand Trunk Railway allowed city dwellers easy access to the coveted area for summer holidays, while being in reasonable proximity to their homes and work in the city of Montreal. The widening of Highway 20 after WWII allowed families to move permanently to the area, resulted in a new housing boom.

In fact, one of the first mall-style commercial centers, Dorval Gardens, was built at the intersection of Highway 20 and Dorval Avenue and is still the main commercial hub of the area.

This active and family oriented community has so much more to offer! Enjoy the many facilities including a cultural center, two sports arenas, two community centers, a modern library, marinas, Royal St.Lawrence Yacht Club and 15 parks located within its limits! In fact, this pretty city boasts one of the highest proportions of green space per capita in Canada!
