Dollard-des-Ormeaux (pronounced doll-lard-days-ormo) is a mostly residential city with a well-developed commercial zone along St-John's and Sources Boulevards. The area is known for its outstanding recreational facilities including a civic center which houses 3 indoor arenas, 2 swimming pools with a diving complex and amphitheater, and city hall.

The recently added Cultural Center houses a reception hall, library, art gallery and a Community Center.

In the heart of the community lies Centennial Park, a 48 hectare green space with artificial lake. Residents enjoy year-round activities including walking, jogging, biking in summer, and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating and tobogganing in winter.
